Migration researchers indicate that in today's Europe each and every country is affected by migration (Martiniello & Rath 2012). A growing number of people are on the move, and the causes and trajectories of migration are becoming more diverse as well. Not only international, but also internal European migration is one of the top questions on the political agenda. At present, in the context of international migration almost every country is at the same time a sending, a receiving and a transit country, almost every modern country can be thought of as a collection of diasporas (UNDP 2012). The number of refugees and asylum seekers is growing - by the end of 2010, there were 43.7 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, the highest number in 15 years. Of these, 15.4 million were refugees. At the same time, the escalation of armed conflicts at Europe's threshold over the course of past several years brings the topic of forced migration even closer to home.
